Swedish video game publisher Embracer Group (THQQF) has canceled a new game in the “Deux Ex” franchise after two years of development and will lay off a number of staff as part of ongoing efforts to reduce costs, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Eidos, the studio behind the series, will instead focus on starting a new, original franchise, the author notes. The Fly notes that Eidos and the “Deus Ex” IP were acquired by Embracer from Square Enix (SQNXF) in 2022.
