Elliott Management has offered financial backing to the Glazer family so that they can remain owners of Manchester United, Mark Ogden of ESPN reports, citing sources. Elliott’s emergence in the sale process of United opens up the prospect of Joel and Avram Glazer retaining an interest in the club, according to ESPN. The Glazers have received at least two offers from rival bidders to buy Manchester United, notes Ogden. British businessperson Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of the Qatar Islamic Bank, both submitted sealed bids to buy United ahead of last Friday’s deadline.
