Edible Garde announced that the Company has received a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture Organic Certification Program administered by the Farm Service Agency. These funds are designated to reimburse organic producers and handlers with financial assistance to reduce the cost of organic certification. Jim Kras, Chief Executive Officer of Edible Garden, commented, “We are pleased to have been awarded this grant from the USDA’s Organic Certification Program administered by the Farm Service Agency. This grant will reimburse some of the cost of the organic processing/handling certification for the Edible Garden Heartland facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a leader in controlled environment agriculture, locally grown, organic and sustainable produce and products, our organic certification is obviously important to the Company. Additionally, this grant further enhances the Company’s ongoing partnership with the USDA. Edible Garden is currently involved in a research partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the USDA, and the EPA studying the impact of nanobubble technology on fresh produce food safety and processing procedures. We look forward to more collaborations with the USDA in the future.”
