BMO Capital analyst James Thalacker raised the firm’s price target on Duke Energy to $103 from $95 and keeps an Outperform rating on the shares. The stock has been outperforming the broader utility sector since mid-year, driven by the combination of regulatory certainty, visible IRP-related investment opportunities, management’s firm focus on organic growth, and a stronger balance sheet, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Moving into 2024, investors are expected to place an increasingly higher weighting on regulatory clarity, balance sheet strength, and improving credit-profiles, the firm added.
