Dollar General tests cashierless checkout technology, BI reports

Dollar General (DG) is testing cashierless checkout technology at a North Carolina location, similar to Amazon’s (AMZN) Just Walk Out technology, which launched several years ago, Business Insider’s Alex Bitter reports, citing a company statement. The company is working with AiFi for the system at its Banner Elk store, allowing customers to simply walk out with their purchases. “Consistent with our ongoing strategy to continually look for new ways to meet our customers’ value and convenience needs, we recently piloted a store with frictionless technology,” Dollar General said. “While we do not currently plan to expand this technology, we instead will continue to test and learn.”
