Charlie Ergen is nearing a deal to merge Dish Network (DISH) and EchoStar (SATS) and an announcement could be made as soon as Tuesday, The Wall Street Journal’s Lauren Thomas and Drew FitzGerald report. According to people familiar with the matter, the price could be a discount to where EchoStar stock closed following a surge of more than 20% on Monday ahead of the company’s earnings report. EchoStar CEO Hamid Akhavan is expected to serve as president and CEO of the combined company upon the deal close.
