With icy conditions throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeast region, many airports remain closed on Wednesday. Delta said it has canceled approximately 400 Delta mainline and Delta Connection flights before noon Wednesday. Customers should anticipate additional delays and cancellations as forecast temperatures are not expected to rise above the freezing mark on Wednesday. The company further stated that teams are focused on safely resuming service, conditions permitting, to and from airports in the Gulf Coast and Southeast regions, which are contending with rare, significant snowfall and ice. Delta is working with all partners to safely resume operations. Ground delay programs are necessary to meter inbound traffic and keep airfield movements at a safe level while ground surfaces are treated for more optimal use.
