Vacation clubs are the latest twist on timeshares, with people making a down payment to join, followed by monthly payments, to get discounted rates at a portfolio of resorts, Rukmini Callimachi and Derek Norman of The New York Times reports. One of these clubs is called Unlimited Vacation Club, which is managed by Hyatt (H). While the vacation club has devoted fans, dozens of current and former club members who spoke to the Times said the promised perks and flashy rooms never materialized or were out of reach due to blackout dates.
