Constellation Energy (CEG) is nearing an acquisition of Calpine, Ryan Gould, Matthew Monks, Dinesh Nair and David Carnevali of Bloomberg report, citing people familiar with the matter. Constellation is in discussions with Calpine’s private equity owners about the terms of a transaction that could value the company at about $30B including debt, sources told Bloomberg. A deal may be announced in the coming weeks, but the talks are ongoing and could still falter, they added. Shares of Constellation are down 5%, or $13.22, following the report.
