China to probe U.S. chip grants, alleged dumping, Bloomberg reports

China plans to investigate allegations the U.S. dumps lower-end chips and subsidizes its own chipmakers, Bloomberg News reports. The government will look into whether the U.S. is giving its chipmakers an unfair advantage through incentives, grants, or illegally undercutting Chinese products. The probe began in response to protests from local industry players, with many complaining about the US Chips act, which provides fundings of around $39B to entice firms like Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) and Samsung Electronics (SSNLF). The Commerce Ministry, which will be conducting the investigation, did not name any company, but several U.S. firms including Texas Instruments (TXI) and Analog Devices (ADI) rank among leaders in lower-end products such as power and analog chips.
