China bans exports of certain rare-earth processing technologies, Bloomberg says

China’s government has put technology for making rare-earth metals and rare-earth magnets on a list of items that can’t be transferred overseas, potentially making it harder for the U.S. to boost supplies of such strategic raw materials, according to Bloomberg News, citing a document from China’s Ministry of Commerce. MP Materials, which has begun producing refined rare earth products at Mountain Pass, has previously called that step “an important milestone for the company and in returning the full rare earth supply chain to the United States.”
