After the FAA issued its latest implementation plan for Advanced Air Mobility eVTOL aircraft, “Innovate28,” outlining the steps that need to be undertaken to have these aircraft carrying passengers at scale by 2028, Canaccord analyst Austin Moeller said the series of proposed plans that the FAA intends to see implemented by multiple government agencies “has nothing to do with” the type certification schedule of Joby Aviation (JOBY), Archer Aviation (ACHR), Beta Technologies or any other U.S. eVTOL platforms that are currently expected to receive their certifications in 2024-2025 after completing sufficient test flights. Former FAA Acting Administrator Billy Nolen alluded to in an interview with FLYING last week that he expects Archer and Joby to be flying their aircraft at multiple vertiports “operating nationwide” by 2028, noted the analyst, who has Buy ratings on both Archer and Joby.
