A Boeing (BA) 737 MAX 9 plug door that came off during an Alaska Airlines (ALK) flight recently was made in Malaysia, the Wall Street Journal’s Paul Kiernan and Andrew Tangel report, citing Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board. Homenday, who oversees the nation’s top air-safety investigator, said that Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) manufactured the plug door in Malaysia before it ended up in the company’s Wichita, Kansas plant, and eventually on a train to Boeing’s 737 factory in Renton, Washington, the authors note.
