Boeing in tentative non-prosecution deal with U.S. prosecutors, Reuters say

Boeing (BA) has reached a tentative non-prosecution agreement with U.S. prosecutors in a fraud case stemming from two fatal 737 MAX plane crashes, people familiar with the matter told Reuters’ Mike Spector, David Shepardson and Allison Lampert. Boeing has no longer agreed to plead guilty in the case and Department of Justice officials are still weighing whether to proceed with a non-prosecution agreement or take Boeing to trial, the report said. An agreement would forestall a June 23 trial date on a charge the planemaker misled U.S. regulators about a crucial flight control system on the 737 MAX, but would require a judge’s approval, the report noted, adding that Boeing and DOJ officials have not yet exchanged papers to negotiate final details of any non-prosecution agreement.
