BioNTech (BNTX) said the European Patent Office, or EPO, has declared invalid an mRNA patent that has been invoked by Moderna (MRNA) in litigation regarding an alleged patent violation by BioNTech and COVID-19 vaccine partner Pfizer (PFE), reported Reuters. “We understand and welcome the European Patent Office’s decision to revoke Moderna’s European Patent 3 718 565 B1,” the biotech firm is quoted by Reuters as having said in a statement.
