BHP sees the rapid expansion of India’s steel industry increasing its coal business significantly as the company refocuses amid a Chinese ban on Australian products, the Financial Times’ Nic Fildes reports, citing chief commercial officer Vandita Pant. Roughly 40% of the miner’s metallurgical coal is now heading to India, up from 30% in 2019, as India has become a “very big, big market”, Pant said.
