BCI signs agreement in support of proposed Bunge, Viterra merger

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation has signed a definitive agreement in support of the proposed merger between Viterra and Bunge. BCI owns 10 per cent of Viterra and will exchange its ownership for a minority stake in the combined entity and cash upon the close of the transaction. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Glencore PLC will also become shareholders of Bunge. The transaction is expected to close in mid-2024, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including receipt of regulatory approvals and approval by Bunge shareholders.
