Bayer (BAYRY) was ordered by a jury in Georgia, US to pay approximately $2.1B to a plaintiff claiming its Roundup weedkiller caused cancer, Tim Loh of Bloomberg reports. The verdict includes $65M in compensatory and $2B in punitive damage, according to an emailed statement from Arnold & Itkin LLP and Kline & Specter PC, the plaintiff’s firms. Bayer disagrees with the decision and intends to appeal, a spokesman said in an emailed statement, according to Bloomberg.
