Apple plans to adopt the GSM’s Rich Communication Services messaging standard by releasing a software update “later next year,” bringing iMessage-style features to cross-platform texts, 9to5Mac’s Chance Miller reports. In a statement to 9to5Mac, an Apple spokesperson said that the company believes RCS will offer better interoperability for cross-platform messages.
