Apple said it had to pull down its WhatsApp and Threads apps from the app store in China on government orders, Tripp Mickle and Mike Isaac of The New York Times reports. In response, Apple said, “we are obligated to follow the laws in the countries where we operate, even when we disagree.” According to a person briefed on the matter, the Chinese government found inflammatory content on both apps about China’s president, violating the countries cybersecurity laws.
