3M (MMM), DuPont (DD), Chemours (CC), Corteva (CTVA), and other manufacturers of so-called “forever chemicals” won a legal dispute when an appeals court overruled a prior decision that would have allowed millions of people in Ohio to join a class action lawsuit against the companies, Axios’ Ivana Saric reports. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals told a lower court to throw out the case filed against the companies, ruling that the lawsuit was too broad and failed to show how the synthetic compounds, or PFAS, detected in their body could be linked to any one manufacturer’s actions, the author notes.
