Anysphere introduces $200 per month Cursor AI subscription tier

AI coding company Anysphere said in a blog post yesterday that it is rolling out an option to purchase Ultra, a $200 per month plan for users of its AI coding tool Cursor with 20x more usage than Pro. “While the vast majority of Cursor users are well-served by our Pro plan, this change was highly requested by power users seeking more predictability than usage-based pricing would offer,” said Anysphere CEO Michael Truell. “Ultra is made possible by multi-year partnerships from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (GOOG), and xAI. Their support was instrumental in offering this volume of compute at a predictable price. We’re also happy to report we’re rolling out changes this week to make our Pro plan more generous. By default, the Pro plan will now follow an unlimited-with-rate-limits model, and all limits on tool calls will be lifted. Existing users can choose to stay with the “500 request limit” method if they prefer.” The Fly notes that OpenAI is backed by Microsoft (MSFT), Anthropic is backed by Amazon (AMZN) and Google, and xAI was founded by Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk.
