Analyst sees Nintendo Switch 2 selling 6.6M pre-orders, Bloomberg says

Pelham Smithers Associates analyst Pelham Smithers expects the Nintendo Switch 2 (NTDOY) will sell 6.6M pre-order units based on pre-orders after Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company received 2.2M applications its pre-order lottery in Japan, Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki reports. “As Japan accounts for a third of the global Switch installation base, it implies 6.6 million pre-orders globally,” Smithers said. Analysts had previously forecast that the game maker would be able to produce 6M-8M consoles by the time the console releases on June 5, the author says, noting that Sony‘s (SONY) PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are tied for the biggest console launch to date, with each system selling 4.5M units in their first two months of availability.
