William Blair analyst Jed Dorsheimer initiated coverage of Amprius Technologies with a Market Perform rating. The firm is extending its Energy and Sustainability research coverage into energy storage, specifically, lithium-ion battery, or LIB, technologies and launching coverage of a group of four companies in the advanced LIB industry, two pursuing high-content silicon and two developing Li-metal. Amprius has developed a battery with an advanced silicon nanowire anode that delivers a step change in energy density for LIBs, but the largest obstacle is the manufacturing of silicon nanowires at a reasonable cost, the analyst tells investors.
