Amazon to slash as many as 30,000 corporate jobs, Reuters reports

Amazon intends to slash as many as 30,000 corporate positions starting Tuesday, as the ecommerce giant works to reduce expenses and compensate for overhiring during the peak of demand during the pandemic, Reuters’ Greg Bensinger reports, citing three people familiar with the matter. The number represents a small portion of the company’s 1.55M total employees, but nearly 10% of its its roughly 350,000 corporate staff, the author says, noting this would represent the biggest round of layoffs at Amazon since late 2022.
