Wedbush notes that Amazon (AMZN) and Shopify (SHOP) announced an app integration to enable Amazon’s Buy with Prime on Shopify Stores. The firm believes this tie-up is a positive development for both companies, with Shopify benefiting from the availability of Shopify Payments for Buy with Prime transactions, which is a change in Amazon’s approach as Amazon had previously required Amazon Pay at checkout; the ability for Shopify merchants to easily access FBA, which Wedbush believes is the clear leader in e-commerce fulfillment; and a superior customer experience for consumers given the availability of Prime delivery benefits on Shopify stores. For Amazon, the company now has an easier path to capture share of fulfillment services off-platform and monetize a portion of Shopify’s gross merchandise value in addition to increasing the value of its Prime membership by extending its benefits to more sites, the firm adds.
