Amazon (AMZN) is looking to issue a challenge to UPS (UPS) by beginning a pilot program that uses its own drivers to pick up returns from customers’ houses and bringing them to its facilities for processing, The Information’s Theo Wayt reports, citing messages the company sent to drivers this month. Amazon is starting the pilot at several Amazon warehouses in states that include Texas and Florida and will rely on full-time drivers in Amazon-branded vans as well as Amazon Flex gig workers who use their own vehicles, according to the report.
