HSBC analyst Vikram Gandhi initiated coverage of AIG with a Buy rating and $86 price target. The analyst started coverage on the U.S. non-life insurers, preferring the commercial segment, saying premium rates are still rising and “savvy risk management can further enhance the risk-reward equation.” The firm calls AIG a “classic restructuring story with self-help sweetener.” The company has a materially improved risk profile and a lot of expense savings achieved already with more to come, the analyst tells investors in a research note.
