META AI USERS: In a statement, Meta (META) said, “More than 1 billion people use Meta AI every month. We’re continuing to improve the way our AI products feel relevant to you, understand your goals, and help you accomplish tasks more efficiently. We will start personalizing content and ad recommendations on our platforms based on people’s interactions with our generative AI features. We’ll start notifying people about this update on October 7, 2025 via in-product notifications and emails, several weeks before it goes into effect on December 16, 2025. With tools like Ads Preferences and other feed controls, you can continue to adjust the content and ads you’re seeing at any time… We’ll start to use your AI interactions to personalize content and ads recommendations after these changes go into effect on December 16. We’re rolling out these changes in most regions, and we hope to offer these more personalized experiences everywhere soon.”
RIVOS ACQUISITION: Meta is acquiring chips startup Rivos as part of an effort to bolster its internal semiconductor development and to also control more of its AI infrastructure, Kurt Wagner and Riley Griffin of Bloomberg report, citing a personal familiar with the deal. Terms of the deal are not known, but Rivos was seeking new funding at a $2B valuation back in August.
COLLABORATION: IBM (IBM) and AMD (AMD) announced a collaboration to deliver advanced AI infrastructure to Zyphra, an open-source AI research and product company based in San Francisco, California. Under a multi-year agreement between IBM and Zyphra, IBM is positioned to deliver a large cluster of AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs on IBM Cloud for Zyphra to use for training frontier multimodal foundation models.
This collaboration is expected to deliver among the largest advanced generative AI training capabilities to date powered by an AMD stack running on IBM Cloud. Zyphra recently closed a Series A financing round at a $1B valuation to build a leading open-source/open-science superintelligence lab focused on advancing fundamental innovations in novel neural network architectures, long-term memory, and continual learning. Zyphra partnered with IBM and AMD for their cutting-edge product roadmaps and ability to deliver GPU accelerators at the rapid pace required to drive Zyphra’s innovation forward.
