APP GROWTH: Mobile app growth for OpenAI’s ChatGPT appears to have it its peak, TechCrunch’s Sarah Perez reports, citing a new analysis of download trends and daily active users provided by Apptopia. The firm’s estimates suggest that new user growth, as measured by percentage changes in new global downloads, has slowed since April, with global DAU growth halting and plateauing in recent weeks as well, the author notes.
AI PCS: Microsoft (MSFT) is seeking to turn every Windows 11 PC into an AI PC that Copilot controls and users speak to, The Verge’s Tom Warren reports. “We think we’re on the cusp of the next evolution, where AI happens not just in that chatbot and gets naturally integrated into the hundreds of millions of experiences that people use every day,” Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft, told The Verge. “The vision that we have is: let’s rewrite the entire operating system around AI, and build essentially what becomes truly the AI PC.” The company is rolling out a set of capabilities in Windows that will begin to weave AI features into normal Windows 11 PCs, rather than consumers having to purchase a particular Copilot Plus PC, the author notes.
LARGE AI CLIENT: Intel (INTC) has “at least one volume foundry customer for their 18a/ap process,” says SemiAccurate, which adds that it thinks “there are more but we can finally name this one AI player” for “professional level subscribers only.”
ROBOTAXI: Stellantis (STLA) and Pony.ai (PONY) announced they have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding aimed at accelerating the development and deployment of robotaxi solutions in Europe. The collaboration, through Pony.ai’s European division headquartered in Luxembourg, will integrate Pony.ai’s advanced autonomous driving software with Stellantis’ medium-size van AV-Ready Platform – BEV version, to deliver safe, scalable and efficient urban mobility solutions. The companies plan to begin deploying test vehicles based on the Peugeot e-Traveller model in Luxembourg in the coming months, followed by a gradual rollout across European cities starting in 2026. The real-world testing will focus on validating safety, performance, and regulatory readiness. The initial focus of the partnership will be on light commercial vehicles – a segment where Stellantis, through Pro One, holds a leading position in Europe. Stellantis’ broad LCV portfolio enables seamless scaling solutions tailored to Europe’s diverse mobility landscape. Their size, flexibility, total cost of ownership and efficiency make them ideal for different applications, from compact robotaxis to multi-passenger vans accommodating up to eight people.
