Take-Two (TTWO) stock slipped on Wednesday after the video game publishing company revealed the price of Grand Theft Auto VI. The company has revealed an MSRP of $79.99 for the standard version of the game. Gamers who want more can pick up the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition for $99.99. This version includes extra content, such as premium vehicles, weapons, and apparel.

Take-Two also revealed that preorders for GTA VI will launch on Thursday, June 25, 2026. These preorders are for the versions of the game that will be available on Sony’s (SONY) PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s (MSFT) Xbox Series X|S. While a PC version of GTA VI is planned, it won’t be released until after the console versions launch on November 19, 2026.
Interestingly, it appears that Take-Two and developer Rockstar Games have opted to skip a physical release of GTA VI. Digital copies will be available, and consumers who purchase a physical edition will receive a code inside the box, rather than a disc containing the game. This isn’t too surprising as the game is expected to be massive and the video game industry has been shifting to digital releases over the past decade.
Take-Two Stock Movement Today
Take-Two stock was down 1% on Wednesday, extending a 6.17% year-to-date fall. However, the shares were still up slightly over the past 12 months.
TTWO stock trading activity today was muted, as some 718,000 shares changed hands. For comparison, the company’s three-month average daily trading volume was about 2.78 million shares.
Investors will note that today’s stock drop may be related to the price of GTA VI. Some analysts were hoping Take-Two would price the game at $100 or above, instead of the $80 the publisher went with. Even so, the positive coverage of TTWO continued today with new coverage from five-star BTIG analyst Clark Lampen. He initiated coverage of the shares with a Buy rating and a $290 price target, suggesting a possible 20.54% upside for the shares. As expected, the upcoming release of GTA VI was the main catalyst for this new analyst coverage.
Is Take-Two Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?
Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Take-Two is Strong Buy, based on 15 Buy ratings over the past three months. This comes with an average TTWO stock price target of $295.27, representing a possible 22.95% upside for the shares.
