Quantum computing companies Rigetti Computing (RGTI) and D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) will report their fiscal second-quarter results on August 6. Options traders expect both stocks to move more than 13% after earnings, much higher than their average post-earnings moves over the past four quarters. This shows investors want to see whether both companies are turning their quantum technology into a profitable business.

QBTX: an alternative to margin or options on QBTSInvestors will be watching for stronger revenue growth after years of investment in quantum technology. Although the two companies use different quantum technologies, analysts remain bullish on both.
Both stocks have pulled back sharply this year. RGTI shares have plunged 32.5% while QBTS stock has dropped 31%, mainly due to the broader tech selloff and concerns about high valuations.
Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ:RGTI)
Rigetti specializes in superconducting quantum computing and provides cloud-based quantum services. It is also one of the few companies focused on building quantum chips.
Analysts expect Rigetti to report a loss of $0.05 per share, unchanged from a year ago. Revenue is forecast to jump 185% year-over-year to $5.13 million.
The company recently announced that it has received a $5 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) for TangleLab, a project that combines quantum and traditional computing. Rigetti is partnering with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, with operations expected to begin in 2027.
According to TipRanks’ Options Tool, options traders expect RGTI stock to move about 13.4% in either direction after the company reports its Q2 results.

D-Wave Quantum (NASDAQ:QBTS)
D-Wave is the only public quantum company that offers both annealing and gate-model quantum computing systems. Its annealing technology is designed to solve optimization problems more efficiently than traditional systems.
Wall Street expects QBTS to report a loss of $0.09 per share, wider than the $0.08 loss reported a year ago. Revenue is expected to increase 30% year-over-year to $4.02 million.
D-Wave recently received a $1.57 million grant from the NSF to support research on fault-tolerant quantum computing and help advance quantum technology in the U.S. The company also continues to win new business, including an expanded partnership with AT&T (T).
According to TipRanks’ Options Tool, options traders expect about a 13.5% move in either direction in QBTS stock in reaction to Q2 earnings.

RGTI or QBTS: Which Is the Better Quantum Stock?
