Qilimanjaro and Qblox Build Hybrid Data Hub in Spain
We start in Barcelona, where Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech has joined with Qblox to open a new Hybrid Quantum Data Center this November. The site will host both analog and digital superconducting quantum computers on one platform for the first time in Europe. The systems will link with high-performance computing at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
The project comes under European programs such as Quantum Spain and EuroQCS-Spain. It aims to provide firms and labs with access to quantum gear through cloud and on-site use. For investors, the move signals Europe’s intent to grow its own supply of quantum hardware and avoid reliance on outside sources.
CERN Hosts Quantum Networking Lab
Next, CERN has begun a new quantum networking lab with Single Quantum of the Netherlands and Qunnect of the United States. Single Quantum added superconducting detectors that work with White Rabbit sync tools. Qunnect supplied rack-ready entanglement sources. Together, the parts will let CERN test time-synced quantum links on its fiber network.
The trials will cover metrology and joint use of quantum and classical signals. The work is set inside CERN’s Quantum Tech Initiative and brings more research into the future of a quantum internet.
Quantum Computing Inc. Raises $500 Million
In the U.S., Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT) has closed an oversubscribed private placement of 26.9 million shares, raising $500 million in gross proceeds. A top global asset manager joined as a new holder in the deal.
The funds will go to sales growth, new staff, and planned acquisitions of other firms. The round brings the total to $400 million raised since late 2024. This now places QUBT among the strongest cash lines in the sector.
BTQ Technologies Prepares Nasdaq Listing
Also in focus this week is BTQ Technologies Corp. (BTQ), which has gained approval to list on the Nasdaq Global Market. Trading is set to commence on September 26 under the ticker symbol BTQ. Shares will be removed from the OTCQX while continuing to trade on CBOE Canada and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The uplist is aimed at drawing new investors as the firm pushes its platform for secure networks.
IonQ Hits Quantum Internet Step
Lastly, IonQ (IONQ) has shown frequency conversion of photons from visible light to telecom wavelengths. The advance, done with the Air Force Research Lab, means IonQ can soon connect two quantum computers with standard fiber optic cable. This step clears a key hurdle for quantum links across long ranges. For firms, it points to a future of networked quantum machines operating within existing telecom grids.
