“Representing the property as a second home may have allowed Cook to secure a lower ‘Second Home’ mortgage down payment and rates, as investment properties typically carry higher down payments and higher rates due to increased risk,” Pulte said in an X post on Friday.
Pulte, Trump Clash with Fed
Last week, President Trump attempted to fire Cook after Pulte alleged that she committed mortgage fraud by listing two separate properties as her primary residence. Trump appointed Pulte as FHFA Director in January, and the two have since criticized the Fed and Chairman Jerome Powell for keeping the federal funds rate unchanged.
On Thursday, Cook filed a lawsuit against Trump in an effort to keep her job, paving the way for a long legal battle.
