According to a recent LinkedIn post from Multifactor, the company is developing a product called Checkpoint to manage what autonomous agents can do with users’ authenticated accounts. The post highlights gaps in current tools, noting that password managers focus on authentication while OAuth and MCP depend on website cooperation that is often unavailable.
The post suggests Checkpoint enforces fine-grained authorization at the network layer, with policies applied to actual requests that change account state and executed inside a Trusted Execution Environment. It also indicates that outputs are delivered as hyperlinks, aiming to make the system compatible with a wide range of AI agents and assistants without requiring integration changes on the recipient side.
As shared in the LinkedIn post, Multifactor’s team reportedly built a working MVP during an internal hackathon and is now preparing the product for a planned rollout at the end of the month. For investors, this roadmap points to an emerging opportunity in AI-native security and authorization infrastructure, where demand may grow as agentic workflows become more common and enterprises seek controls over automated account access.
If Checkpoint proves technically robust at scale, Multifactor could position itself as a specialist in network-layer policy enforcement for AI agents, differentiating from traditional password managers and identity providers. This focus on verifiable enforcement and auditability may appeal to regulated sectors such as banking, potentially supporting future enterprise pricing and recurring revenue, though commercial traction and competitive responses remain key variables.
The post also underscores three technical challenges Multifactor is targeting: isolating user-driven network requests from background activity, mapping site actions in advance, and maintaining those maps as sites evolve. Successfully addressing these issues could create defensible intellectual property and increase switching costs for clients, improving the company’s long-term industry position if adoption materializes.
