Generate Capital has successfully closed a US$43 million financing deal with Fiera Infrastructure Private Debt to bolster its Generate Upcycle division’s North American anaerobic digestion portfolio. This strategic move marks Generate’s first cross-currency, cross-border financing and the inaugural financing of food-waste renewable natural gas (RNG) within its portfolio. The funds will support five upgraded RNG assets across Ontario, Canada, and Upstate New York, which are expected to produce approximately 1 million gigajoules of RNG annually once fully operational.
This financing not only highlights the maturity and momentum of Generate Upcycle’s RNG platform but also underscores the growing importance of innovative financing solutions in expanding the RNG sector. Bill Caesar, President of Generate Upcycle, emphasized the environmental and economic impact of scaling food-waste RNG. The deal allows Generate Upcycle to recycle balance sheet capital and positions the company for future expansion. Generate Upcycle, a subsidiary of Generate Capital, is dedicated to providing integrated organic waste solutions and serves a diverse clientele across North America and the UK. This development aligns with Generate Capital’s broader strategy of investing in critical infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions.
