EquityZen, a leading pre-IPO marketplace, has announced the appointment of Jeff Urban as its new Head of Capital Markets. This strategic move is set to enhance EquityZen’s mission of democratizing access to private markets. Urban will oversee the sales organization, focusing on institutional and issuer relationships, and will report directly to COO Justin Howell while collaborating closely with CEO Atish Davda. With over two decades of experience in both public and private equity capital markets, Urban’s expertise is expected to propel EquityZen into its next growth phase. His previous roles include leading US institutional sales and syndication at RBC Capital Markets and spearheading private market initiatives at Carta and Morgan Stanley.

Urban’s appointment comes at a time when the private market ecosystem is evolving rapidly, with increasing demand for liquidity solutions. EquityZen’s advanced technology infrastructure positions it uniquely to meet these needs, offering significant advantages in reducing transactional friction. CEO Atish Davda expressed enthusiasm about Urban joining the team, highlighting his proven track record and deep industry relationships as key assets. Urban himself is eager to leverage EquityZen’s platform to expand access to alternative markets and drive substantial growth. Since its inception in 2013, EquityZen has facilitated over 47,000 private placements, connecting more than 800,000 investors and shareholders, and remains committed to delivering ‘Private Markets for the Public.’
