Blacksmith Showcases High-Scale CI Scheduling and Simulator-Driven Optimization

According to a recent LinkedIn post from Blacksmith, the company is handling more than 10 million continuous integration jobs per day across roughly 7,000 customers, describing CI as a highly variable, bursty workload. The post highlights that customers can scale from zero to tens of thousands of CPUs within minutes, creating a complex bin-packing and scheduling challenge at scale.

The post suggests that a new scheduling approach has been developed using a simulator built on top of production data to replay real traffic and test candidate designs. This simulator continues to be used to validate scheduling changes before deployment, which may indicate an emphasis on infrastructure reliability and efficiency that could support margin improvement, platform scalability, and competitive differentiation in high-volume CI workloads.
