The Seattle-based technology giant announced that it will stop promoting a consumer subscription for artificial intelligence services and introduced a new bundle that includes AI features in many of its most popular productivity apps.
Microsoft had previously issued Copilot Pro in 2024 at a cost of $20 per month. Now, the company is launching an AI version of its Microsoft 365 Family of apps, which allows for up to six users and six terabytes of cloud storage, for $12.99 per month. The new Microsoft 365 Premium tier of apps combines both Copilot Pro and Microsoft 365 Family at a cost of $19.99 a month.
AI Assistant
The new offering enables people to have conversations with the Copilot AI assistant in Microsoft’s Office apps that include Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Microsoft says it will also provide access to two AI reasoning agents that so far have only been available to corporate customers.
Microsoft reported 89 million consumer subscribers for Microsoft 365 at the end of this year’s second quarter, up 8% from a year earlier. Revenue growth from those products has accelerated for three consecutive quarters, reaching 20% in Q2 of this year. MSFT stock has risen 23% in 2025.
