“It’s Just Disgusting…” Home Depot Stock (NYSE:HD) Notches Up Despite Growing ICE Protests

We know that home improvement giant Home Depot (HD) has been the epicenter of protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a few months now, as Home Depot was the location for several ICE raids that landed a lot of illegal immigrant arrests. And now, there are signs that the protests against ICE, and by extension Home Depot, are firing up as well. One such protest reached Evanston, Illinois. But shareholders are unfazed, as Home Depot shares gained over 1.5% in Tuesday afternoon’s trading.

The protest drew “dozens of demonstrators,” reports noted, to the Home Depot at 2201 Oakton Street in Evanston. Two people were taken into custody during an ICE raid on the Home Depot parking lot on Sunday morning, and on Monday, a protest group gathered to focus on immigration policies.

One of the protesters, Elissa Bassler, noted, “It’s just disgusting that our government is abducting law-abiding people off of our streets. We care about our community and the people who live here.” Others, meanwhile, brought signs comparing ICE agents to various unsavory historical figures and insisting that ICE allow illegal immigrants to remain where they are.

Fall Sale in Progress

But getting past the parking lot menace and actually getting into the Home Depot brings with it a slew of bargains as part of its fall sale. Reports note deep discounting is currently going on in several categories, ranging from home décor to power tools.

While some of the deals might be a little time-sensitive—deals on tailgating supplies like coolers and outdoor Halloween decorations have a bit of a shelf life before cold weather makes them all but useless—some of the deals will prove much more useful. Indoor furniture deals, bathroom upgrades, and appliances will also be on sale, with deals running up to 40% or even more in some cases. This is likely to draw some interested customers out to pick up key elements of home décor or operation for less.

Is Home Depot a Good Long-Term Buy?
