Hideo Kojima Provides New Details on an Exclusive Game for Sony’s PlayStation

Legendary game director Hideo Kojima surprised fans on Tuesday when he revealed details of his next game, Physint. This is a new game in development that will be an exclusive title for Sony’s (SONY) PlayStation consoles. It’s unclear what console the game will be released on, as Kojima said it won’t be finished for some time. This means it could be released on the upcoming PlayStation 6, or maybe even a hypothetical PlayStation 7.

What gamers do know about Kojima’s next game is that it will be a return to the tactical espionage action genre. This is a game genre that Kojima largely defined with his Metal Gear series at Konami (JP:9766). Kojima left Konami in 2015 following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Following that, he released Death Stranding in 2019, which began as a PlayStation exclusive and received a sequel earlier this year.

While Death Stranding and its sequel have been well received by critics, there’s no denying that they aren’t what fans of Kojima expected after his departure from Konami. Physint could see massive sales if both new and old fans of the game director get on board for this new title.

Sony Stock Movement Today

Sony stock was up slightly on Tuesday, extending a 40.69% rally year-to-date. The company’s shares have also gained 55.56% over the past 12 months. While PlayStation is a major segment of Sony’s operations, it isn’t the entertainment company’s only business. Sony also produces films, music, and other forms of content.

Is Sony Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus for Sony is Moderate Buy, based on two Buy ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average SONY stock price target of $31.50, representing a potential 5.81% upside for the shares.
