Marvell Technology (MRVL) is set to report its second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 27 after the market closes. Ahead of the report, Goldman Sachs analyst James Schneider kept a Neutral rating on the stock but raised his price target to $195 from $180. The new target still implies about 10% downside from current levels. Schneider said Marvell is “well positioned” to benefit from growing optical demand and custom chip deployments.

Goldman Sees More Room for Marvell’s Data-Center Business
Schneider expects higher spending by large cloud companies to support Marvell’s data-center business. He also sees continued demand for optical networking products as data centers handle more AI traffic.
Marvell is also seeing continued momentum from its existing custom chip customers. A new custom silicon customer is starting to add to revenue as well. Schneider expects these trends to help Marvell raise its 2026 and 2027 revenue outlook.
The analyst also sees more growth from custom XPU deployments. These chips are designed for specific AI and computing tasks, giving Marvell another way to benefit from rising AI infrastructure spending.
Marvell’s own outlook points to strong growth. The company guided for about $2.7 billion in second-quarter revenue, which would represent roughly 35% year-over-year growth at the midpoint. It also expects adjusted EPS of $0.93, plus or minus $0.05.
Why Goldman Remains Neutral on MRVL Stock
Goldman’s Neutral rating shows that the firm sees stronger growth but believes much of that potential is already reflected in the stock price. Marvell closed Wednesday at about $217.08, above Goldman’s new $195 price target. The target therefore does not point to further upside from the current level.
Schneider also noted that investor expectations are already high after several positive AI infrastructure updates. That leaves less room for disappointment if Marvell’s data-center growth or revenue outlook falls short.
What to Expect From Marvell’s Earnings
Wall Street expects Marvell to report second-quarter fiscal 2027 EPS of $0.93, reflecting 39% year-over-year growth. Revenue is projected to rise about 35% to $2.71 billion.
Investors will also want to see whether Marvell’s data-center growth supports higher revenue expectations for 2026 and 2027. The results could give investors a better sense of whether Goldman’s more positive view of the business is translating into actual growth.
