Eversource Energy (ES) has released an update.
Sunrise Wind, an offshore wind project by Eversource Energy and Ørsted, has submitted a new proposal in response to New York’s offshore wind solicitation. The updated project aims to provide up to 924 megawatts of clean energy and support New York’s climate goals and renewable energy mandate. Expected to be operational by 2026, Sunrise Wind has secured necessary agreements and expects final federal permits soon. Additionally, an agreement is in place for Ørsted to acquire Eversource’s share, making it the sole owner upon a successful bid, with Eversource managing onshore construction. If not selected, the joint venture will evaluate further options.
