The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) has won big at the box office with Avatar: The Way of Water. This movie has become the sixth movie in history to cross $2B in global box office receipts. With this resounding success, this movie has joined a club that includes the original Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Avatar: The Way of Water was released in late December last year and quickly became a runaway hit, grossing $1 billion worldwide shortly 14 days after its release.
Disney first acquired the franchise following its purchase of 21st Century Fox’s assets in 2019 for $71 billion.
Analysts are bullish about DIS stock with a Strong Buy consensus rating based on 20 Buys and four Holds.
