Costco Stock (COST) Rises on Upbeat September Sales

Membership-only warehouse chain Costco Wholesale’s (COST) sales grew 8% to $26.58 billion in the retail month of September (five weeks ended October 5, 2025). The company reported strong growth despite tariff woes and macroeconomic uncertainties, thanks to its value deals, digital channels, and other perks, such as extended shopping hours. COST stock was up about 2% in Wednesday’s extended trading session.

Costco Delivers Solid September Sales

Costco reported a 5.7% rise in its September comparable sales, with solid growth across all key regions. Notably, comparable sales in the U.S., Canada, and Other International segments increased 5.1%, 6.3%, and 8.5%, respectively.

Moreover, online sales continued to be robust. Costco reported a 26.1% jump in its digitally-enabled (all sales initiated through a digital device) comparable sales in September.

Excluding the impacts of changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange, September comparable sales grew 6%, while digitally-enabled comparable sales were up 26.3%.

Costco’s solid September sales update follows the company’s better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter of Fiscal 2025, which reflected resilience amid uncertain macroeconomic conditions. The retailer continues to attract customers with its value deals and convenient online shopping options.

Is COST Stock a Good Buy?

Following Costco’s upbeat Q4 FY25 results, Jefferies analyst Corey Tarlowe reiterated a Buy rating on COST stock with a price target of $1,180. The 5-star analyst highlighted that the retailer continues to navigate tariff and cost pressures through global sourcing and margin discipline.

Tarlowe also noted that Costco’s tech and digital initiatives are driving engagement. Looking ahead, the analyst expects Costco to sustain warehouse expansion, stable margins, and growth in membership fees.

Currently, Wall Street has a Moderate Buy consensus rating on Costco stock based on 15 Buys and nine Hold recommendations. The average COST stock price target of $1,089.90 indicates 19.1% upside potential. COST stock is essentially flat on a year-to-date basis.
