United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has confirmed that the recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake near Hualien, Taiwan, did not significantly disrupt their operations or personnel safety. The company’s fabs in Hsinchu and Tainan were affected only minimally, with some wafers in production impacted, but operations and wafer shipments have already resumed normally. UMC assures no substantial financial or business impact from the event.
