The latest announcement is out from Sunrise Energy Metals ( (AU:SRL) ).
Sunrise Energy Metals has secured a conditional commitment of up to US$400 million in long-term debt financing from the U.S. Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital to advance its Syerston Scandium Project in New South Wales. The proposed 25-year facility, structured for phased drawdowns tied to milestones and equity contributions, is intended to fund project expenditures and could substantially de-risk development while enhancing capital flexibility.
The funding supports Sunrise’s ambition to establish Syerston as a cornerstone source of Western scandium supply outside China, aligning with broader U.S.-Australia critical minerals objectives. Sunrise has also begun preparations for a U.S. securities exchange listing, which would open access to deeper capital markets and potentially strengthen its strategic and financial position as scandium gains importance in defence and high-tech applications.
