QuantumScape ( (QS) ) has provided an announcement.

On July 16, 2026, QuantumScape Battery, Inc. amended its existing collaboration agreement with Volkswagen-owned PowerCo SE, restructuring their joint program for developing, validating, demonstrating and initially commercializing battery cells based on QSE-5 technology. The updated milestones prioritize automotive cell development, larger-format cells and QuantumScape’s future technology roadmap, with the technology to be transferred into a cell size determined by PowerCo.

The amendment replaces the prior statement of work and cost reimbursement structure with a milestone-based payment schedule tied to the delivery and validation of battery cells over the next two years, setting a maximum aggregate program value of $75.4 million, inclusive of amounts already paid. Concurrently, Statement of Work No. 1 under the original collaboration was terminated effective July 16, 2026, while all outstanding invoiced obligations to PowerCo remain due, signaling a more performance-focused framework for the partnership without changing the potential IP license terms.

Spark’s Take on QS Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, QS is a Neutral.

The score is held down primarily by very weak financial performance (no meaningful reported revenue, large ongoing losses, and significant negative free cash flow). Offsetting this, the earnings call indicates meaningful commercialization milestones and strong liquidity, while technicals are roughly neutral and valuation remains constrained by continued losses and no dividend support.
