MARA Holdings ( (MARA) ) just unveiled an announcement.

On July 2, 2026, MARA subsidiary Volt Texas, LLC acquired control of MAT 1177 LLC from HIF USA, securing a more than 1,200-acre powered land site in Matagorda County, Texas, along with rights to up to 2,000 megawatts of power capacity and associated land contracts. The deal, announced publicly on July 9, 2026, is structured around post-closing milestone payments that could total $600 million if all development conditions are met, with HIF retaining a minority interest once a data center lease is executed.

MARA plans to develop the Texas site with partner Starwood Digital Ventures into a large-scale digital infrastructure campus for high-performance computing and Bitcoin mining, with initial access to 1 gigawatt of grid capacity targeted by October 2027 and up to 2 gigawatts by April 2028. Upon full energization, the project is expected to more than double MARA’s potential power capacity to about 4.8 gigawatts, bolster its position as a leading developer of digital infrastructure, and support thousands of construction and permanent jobs in Texas while enabling HIF to redeploy capital into its advanced fuels initiatives.

Spark’s Take on MARA Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, MARA is a Neutral.

The score is held back primarily by weak financial performance—large recent losses and consistently negative free cash flow—despite a manageable but rising leverage profile. Technical indicators are neutral-to-slightly supportive, and valuation remains challenged due to negative earnings. Earnings-call commentary adds some offset via credible strategic progress (AI/data-center commercialization, Long Ridge cash-flow potential, and debt/dilution reduction), but near-term results remain highly volatile and BTC-sensitive.
