Japan Petroleum Exploration Co ( (JP:1662) ) has shared an announcement.
Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. will acquire all equity interests in four U.S.-based entities collectively known as Fundare, which hold tight oil and gas assets in Colorado and Wyoming, via its overseas subsidiary Peoria Resources and a dedicated acquisition vehicle. The roughly US$320 million deal aligns with JAPEX’s 2026–2035 management plan, expanding its operated lease portfolio near existing Verdad assets and leveraging geographic proximity to improve development efficiency and reduce costs.
Fundare’s production averaged about 9,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day in early 2026, and JAPEX plans to increase output through efficient development and scale benefits. By turning Fundare into consolidated sub-subsidiaries, JAPEX strengthens its U.S. footprint, aims to boost profitability through cash flow and reserve-based lending-funded growth, and enhances its competitive position in the tight oil and gas segment for stakeholders and investors.
